Originally from Queensland, Australia, Susie Sierra first began her career as an artist while living and working in America in the late 80's.
Susie set up a commercial art studio in the Rocky Mountains with a group of American artists.Together they produced a series of Australian designed Pop Art sculptures called Frozen Moments. They were sold across North America and Europe with great success.
While in America, Susie also worked as an actor in repertory theatre and in television as a presenter for a variety of lifestyle programs. She returned to Australia in 1992 and opened her first gallery in Sydney in 1994.
Her work draws inspiration from nature and the history of flower painting. The paintings of the 17th Century Dutch Masters and their connection through to Oriental flower painting have also influenced her work. Currently, she is exploring the symbolism of flowers in cultural and religious ritual and ceremony.
Art Critic and Judge John Bradley has stated, "... it is refreshing to discover an artist with such highly developed technical skills, imagination and intellect. This is definitely an artist to invest in for the future."
Susie's classical technique and discernable style have established her as one of Sydney's contemporary artists to watch. She has studied the techniques of the Old Masters, and exhibited widely. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout Australia, North America, and Europe. |
